Kudos to The Family Place
To the Editor:
In this era of overbearing administrative demands, duplication
of services and lack of accountability, it is heartening to see an
organization in our community be recognized for its streamlining
efforts, its integration of programs and its outstanding delivery of
service. The Family Place, a Norwich nonprofit, has recently been
noted by the State of Vermont's Agency of Human Services for its
highly effective work.
The Family Place support young families in need in the Upper
Valley. Its services extend from parenting classes, early
intervention services, to teaching work-site skills to single
mothers. The population served is a complex and ever-increasing
group that spans all economic and educational backgrounds. Quoting
the review from the Agency of Human Services, it states: "You are
thinking in ways to reduce duplication ...and create files that
combine best practice documentation and a comprehensive picture of
the needs, goals, strengths and progress f the individual/family
served...Thank you for allowing me to take a sample file back to the
state team to share."
The Family Place relies heavily on operational funding form the
state and its local charitable contributions. In today's climate of
shrinking dollars I find it reassuring to know that the dollars we
contribute to services to help families in our community are being
well spent. Congratulations, Family Place. Keep up the good work.
